Escape-pain is a rehabilitation programme that helps people with osteoarthritis (OA) and/or chronic joint pain self-manage their condition. The programme aims to increase physical function and improve quality of life. ESCAPE- pain is endorsed and supported by: NICE, British Society of Rheumatology, Royal Society of Public Health, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Arthritis Research UK, and The AHSN Network.
Run over six weeks, participants will attend for one hour, twice a week. Each session contains around a 20 minute discussion focused on helping to support self-management and is followed by approximately 45 minutes of exercise.
Research has demonstrated the long-term cost effectiveness of the programme, and it has received Quality, Innovation, Productivity, and Prevention (QIPP) approval by NICE as a programme that should be considered for system-wide implementation.
