Food for Thought

Are YOU providing meals or access to food to your local community?

Do you want to start helping those in need?

We can help! With funding, advice, equipment & ingredients!

As part of the Somerset Food Resilience Taskforce, CCS and Somerset County Council have been working together to increase food security for residents in Somerset.

The CCS Smart Communities team could give you the tools your community needs to set up a food bank, collection services, or funds to buy fridges, freezers, and other equipment to help you store food safely, and help stock them with food for the people in your local area.

CCS Village Agents and volunteers are delivering over 20,000 units of food each week to families in need to help prevent hunger and over 180,000 items since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Do you need a little help? You can contact your local Village Agent to register to receive a food parcel. Visit: to find out more, or CLICK HERE to complete a short online form, and a member of the team will be in touch.

So, if you think you could support your local community get in touch today!

I feel for people who are struggling right now. I’m a professional person and I’ve retired now but in the early 90’s I found myself in a similar position through no fault of my own when the business I worked for collapsed suddenly after a government problem. As a single parent I found myself going to bed hungry and it’s no fun.
